A night at Spark Coffee + Crafts

Unit 56C Paseo Building Ruby Corner Opal St, Marfori Street in Davao City

I was looking for a place to chill with a friend when I stumbled upon a sponsored post on Facebook one afternoon. It was an ad by Spark Coffee + Crafts; their description:"your one-stop shop for great coffee and hard-to-find art & craft supplies in Davao City". Perfect! I thought. It’s a combination of my 3 addictions: Coffee, Food and Stationery. Without thinking twice, I told my friend about it, and a date was set.

If there's a dog cafe, a cat cafe, a study cafe, even a sneaker cafe, then Spark Coffee + Crafts could actually be called a calligraphy cafe. If you're into calligraphy, then this could definitely be your hub. As I go further in this post you'll see.

Let's move on to the time we spent there...

It was a Friday night and the place was full. Luckily, we were able to get a table. The first thing I checked out before ordering was actually their
non-food merchandize.

Currently they are selling these stationary products:

  • Tombow brush pens
  • Window highlighter pens
  • Pilot Frixion markers
  • Pilot Juice pens
  • Pentel/Kuretake water brushes
  • Pointed Pen holders, nibs, ink,
  • Muji notebooks, pens, retractable highlighters; and
  • Anello bags, among others.

(I'm only able to recall and recognize the items mentioned above. You can check the cafe to find out about their other items, mostly calligraphy stuff. The owners were very welcoming and they willingly explained to me what the items are for :))

Let's move on to the the food...

Spark Coffee + Crafts
Clockwise: Chocolate freak shake, Matcha freak shake, Spark Sandwich, Lasagna.

Their best-sellers, the Lasagna and Spark Sandwich (beef, caramelized onions in between slices of bread, soaked in cheese, topped with a sunny side up, chips on the side), were the best part of our meal. I looked over to the neighbouring table and got envious of the Frenchees (deep-fried grilled cheese sandwich) they ordered. I also loved their chocolate waffle, matcha freak shake, and cafe mocha.

Matcha Freak Shake, Chocolate Freak Shake
Chocolate and matcha freak shakes. I liked the matcha version better. The cake on top served as our dessert!

Chocolate Waffle
Their chocolate waffle - crunchy on the outside but fluffy inside. <3

At present, I’ve got to say that their menu is limited for a foodie. This is understandable because they are still on their soft opening. I’m looking forward to more items on their menu (rice meals, burgers, fries, nachos) because if the quality of their food will be similar to what they currently have, then it would be nothing but awesome.

What can you do there besides shop and eat?

Of course, I wouldn't suggest to call it a calligraphy cafe if it's not conducive for practicing your calligraphy. They actually have pens and notebooks that you can borrow to pass the time with.

I'm still trying to figure out my way around calligraphy. I wrote"hi" and "hello".

Overall, it’s a nice place to chill and spend time with friends, whether you're into calligraphy or not.
I'll definitely go back and visit the place again soon.
