Blogger Recognition Award v1.0

Hi guys! I've been on a blogging break since June 19 and to celebrate my comeback, I will reveal in a few, the 15 bloggers that I nominate for the Blogger Recognition Award. Before that, I would like to extend my gratitude to Malalai Sana of Secrets of Greatest Minds for nominating me, and saying this about my blog:

"Karla, when I read your blog I feel calm from then inside. I love the colors that you use. I love reading your posts. I am really happy that you joined my group Bloggers for Bloggers."

It's now my turn to spread the appreciation and nominate others.

But first, what is the blogger recognition about anyway?

It’s not an ‘’actual’ award but, it is fun to do among bloggers. We get to be appreciated and we get to show our appreciation to others too! It's a great way to connect!

There are a few rules to follow when accepting this award:

One must thank the blogger who nominated him/her and to provide a link to their blog.
One must write a post to show the award.
One must write a brief story on how his/her blog started.
One must give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
One must select 15 bloggers to pass this award to.
One must comment on each of their blogs to let them know they have been nominated for this award and provide a link to this post.

How my blog started

My blog started in 2013. I was taking a year off after premed and was planning to go to medical school. I was bored and stumbled upon Penelope Trunk's blog and reading it inspired me to start my own blog. Initially my plan was to write a medical student blog that will record my journey in medical school. While in medical school, I struggled to survive and did not have the energy to update my blog as frequent as I would have liked. After 4 years, I decided to quit medical school. It's weird to continue with a medical school niche when I'm not a medical student anymore so I rebranded my blog into The Wise Lark. This time I want to blog about what I'm really passionate about - Learning.

Advice to other bloggers

Slow and steady is okay as long as you do not give up!

It requires a lot of work to maintain a blog. Even if you are just in it for fun, it will still require a lot from you. You have to constantly think of topics, learn how to blog, learn how to write, manage social media promotions and reply to comments. Therefore it's okay to take your time and go at a pace you are comfortable with as long as you do not give up. Once you give up, then for sure your blog won't see tomorrow. It also helps when you have blogging buddies with whom you are accountable.

Connect with other bloggers

One of the best things about blogging is that you get to connect with other bloggers from all over the world. You get a glimpse of the world through their lens and you widen your perspective. You get to realise that you are just a teeny tiny part of the universe and that there is a world out there waiting to be explored. You also get to meet like-minded individuals making you feel less lonely in this world. :) It's a great way to interact with people. If you don't know how, Facebook blogging groups would be a great way to start.

Without further delay, here are the nominees of the Blogger Recognition Award...

The 15 Nominees (in no particular order)

1. On the Verge

I nominate verge because she’s been my blogging buddy since she started a couple of years back. She’s doing the encouragement weekly photo challenge with me and she’s doing good so far. She also makes these very informative food and travel blogs. I like how she writes. It's as if we're geographically close even if we are not.

2. Kerry May Makes

I nominate Kerry because I love the layout of her blog and I love that she blogs about planning and journaling, my favorite things in the world! I was able to interact with her and I feel like she's a very creative person. :)

3. Doktor Doktor Lads

I nominate Lads because he shows us that having a busy schedule is not a roadblock to blogging. It's difficult to be a medical student and a blogger at the same time but he makes it work! For that, I salute Lads! He has very informative and relevant public health posts. You might want to check his blog too!

4. Citrus and Sun

I nominate Stephanie of Citrus and Sun. I find her blog very entertaining. I like how it is written. Reading her blog makes me feel like I'm listening to a friend. I like how her photos are edited, they are creative and cute. :)

5. Magical Words

I nominate Isobel from Magical words. Her blog is amazing, full of tips on how to live a life with less stress and more happiness. I like the concept of highlighting one word per article. Her blog is oozing with creativity whilst remaining clean and professional-looking.

6. Blossawe

Blossawe has awesome stuff - entertainment, money saving tips, life hacks, etc. If you're a millenial who's new to adulting, then this blog could be for you to follow :)

7. Coffee Shots and Random Ramblings

Nathalie and I clicked when I first met her in one of those Facebook Blogger groups (I forgot which one). I learned that she's into calligraphy and bullet journaling, things I'm also interested in. I love her art and her writing style that's why I'm nominating her.

8. Earlybiird Blog

This is a blog by Emily - an artist. Someday, I want to be able to call myself an "artist" that's why I immediately got hooked on her posts once I learned that she's an artist. :) She's also an introvert like me and that's a plus :) I like how she writes and how simple and clean her blog looks. :)

9. Qwerty Scribbles

She's my favorite calligrapher. Okay maybe because she's my friend but I really like her blog because it gives us a short update of what she's up to. She blogs about her life and her creations in a mysteriously humble way.

10. Eve Morgan Interiors

I like interior design and I find Eve Morgan's blog a good resource for the topic. The styling and the photos are great. It's good for interior design inpos.

11.The Jewel Diary

I nominate The Jewel Diary because it's a blog dedicated to sparkly stuff -  jewelry! Though not obvious, but I love jewelry. I love the styling and the photos in the blog, and I admire Vivian's confidence in her photos!

12. Simply Saidy

I love how she's able to personalize her travel blogs but still able to give out some recommendations. You can see her personality as she writes and in her photos. It's a wonderful blog. Good styling, brilliant topics, helpful tips.

13. Tour Yard

I nominate touryard because it's a very good travel blog. Reading their articles make you feel like you are brought to that place even if you're just in front of your computer. It not only covers travel logs, but also tips and tricks when traveling like how to pack, what to bring, where to go. etc. It is both informative and entertaining.

14. This Mama Blogs

I want to be the kind of blogger that Jane is someday. I love the topics she covers. Being a stay at home mom is one of my dreams. She seems to be rocking it.

15. Hint Hacks

I love hinthacks because it's full of useful lifestyle tips including how to earn money, how to prep meals, DIY, etc. topics that would be very helpful to me since I'm in the middle of adulting. :) I also love the layout especially the color scheme of the website itself.

So that's it. To the nominees, Congratulations! I hope you spread this award to other bloggers/blogs with cool stuff worthy to be recognized! <3
