Give your brewed coffee a caramel twist for only 6 pesos!

Last week I talked about two things I love - Planners and Stationery (5 Planner Essentials for Stationery Junkies).

This week it's gonna be about this other thing I love - COFFEE!

Are there coffee addicts here? A show of hands please?

For sure all of us know coffee and we know that it's people's go-to drink whenever they have to stay awake for long hours. Caffeine's chemical properties allow it to fool our brain cells into thinking that we are not yet tired. Thus, it's not surprising that caffeine is actually one of the most popular psychoactive drug.

They say it's addictive. Is it, really? WebMD says that caffeine can cause mild physical dependence but not to the degree of illicit drugs. Going cold turkey on coffee might cause mild withdrawal symptoms, but it won't be that bad. Symptoms include headache, fatigue, anxiety, irritability, depressed mood, difficulty concentrating. (WebMD 2017)

My relationship with coffee started when I was in 4th year high school. We had projects that had to be finished, and I had to pretend that I'm studying. Add wushu training to that and I'd really have to be a zombie. I've heard that coffee can give you that extra kick so I tried using it. I got hooked.

Wait, is this a Coffee-addicts-anonymous-post? Well, not really :)

Anyway, in college and med school, coffee had been with me through all of my sleepless (and sleepy) nights. Even though it doesn't work on me anymore I still drink it 'coz I feel like I need it in order to function.

I'm a fan of cheap coffee from Dunkin Donuts and 7/11. Occassionally, (if I have extra money). I'd treat myself for the more expensive ones e.g. Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I'm a cheapskate alright? If you're part of the bourgeoisie or if you're part of the higher classes and think that those options aren't expensive enough for your taste, then, SORRY for being cheap HAHA :p.

Sometimes though, I'd opt for home brewed coffee. However I've got one problem. They taste flat. Well, bittersweet yes, when you add milk and sugar, but there's no added dimension unlike those flavored coffee from cafes I've mentioned.

But you know what? This year I have discovered, Nestle's wonder product that can transform your home brewed coffee experience.

TADAAA!

The Salted Caramel Creamer.

Okay so maybe the flavored creamers are not new to your country but in my local grocery, they're relatively new. I started seeing this April this year.

So I think this is one of their new products and they now come in sachets (small packets).  They're handy and good for students like me. For those worrying about calories, each packet is just 94 calories so compared to my usualy favorite instant coffee drinks (Kopiko brown coffee,  110-120 calories; Nescafe Brown n Creamy 104 calories), it still got less. Brewed coffee has approximately 2 calories so that would be 96 calories all in all. Still less!

So transform your mornings by adding Coffeemate Salted Caramel Creamer. It's cheap, only 6 PHP per packet from your local grocery store. 8 PHP in 7/11 stores. Try it and tell me what you think about it. :)
